39 - On the Schism of the SSPX

What words can we say? Foolish souls cutting themselves off from the Church in their arrogance! Like the rebellion of Korah. We cannot say they did not know better. We cannot blame the pope for not obeying them. Their excommunication is deserved. And somehow they do not tremble.

thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsover thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven.

"Et tibi dabo claves" "And I will give to thee the keys" Not to you, to thee. It's singular, addressed to Peter. To the pope. And now... now the keys are used to bind them in heaven. Their sins will not be forgiven. Their confessions invalid. Their excuses will not matter. It's irrelevant the souls who should have gotten excommunicated first.

They say "Necessity demands it for the salvation of souls". No, no... their obedience is necessary. They quote scripture like the devil, accusing Peter of giving "a scorpion" instead of an "egg" and neglect the rest of the scriptures. "all things therefore whatsoever they shall say to you, observe and do; but according to their works do ye not".

If it was possible to have sympathy for their cause, it is possible no longer. They preach being faithful to tradition but not the tradition of deference to the Pope. They care about long phylactories, about washing hands, about not picking grain on the Sabbath day, and they do not care about the law of God.

They say the current pope is in contradiction to previous popes, just like protestants tell us how the scriptures align to their opinion. But the current pope and the previous popes agree clearly on one thing, that their excommunication is valid. They pull up the so called "errors of vatican 2". As if councils are a matter of personal interpretation.

And when every argument has been made to convince them of their error, they politely say, "I'll pray for you", as if their virtue signal gives them points in heaven. Their prayers will avail us nothing. I would prefer they not curse me.

If scandal should come from Rome, it is possible. Pull the beam of disobedience out of your eye before correcting others motes. You don't like mass in english? Why? It's literally the exact same thing. The confiteor, the gloria, the creed, the readings are different I guess, the eucharistic prayer, the agnus dei... The sacrifice of the mass is the same. If we used the byzantine liturgy or the maronite liturgy and called God, alah instead of Deus, what difference does it make? The bible has multiple words for God none of which were originally Deus. If the church approved something totally new why do you hold on to your tradition more than you hold on to the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church.

The SSPX have scandalized every obedient Catholic with a love of the Latin Mass. You are the reason it's rarely seen in Dioceses around the world. The bishops associate Latin Mass with your schism and want no part in it. Reverance is not an attribute of a liturgy. It's in the heart. Holiness is not a feeling. Inspiration is not eloquence.
